Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to GrammarMama.com ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
2. Information We Collect
When you use our grammar checking service, you provide us with text for analysis. We also collect standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and country (via CloudFront headers) for analytics and abuse prevention.
If you submit feedback, contact us, or subscribe to our newsletter, we store the information you provide (email address, message, rating) for the stated purpose.
Registered accounts: If you create an account, we additionally collect and store your email address, submitted texts, identified grammar mistakes, and vocabulary patterns associated with your account. This data collection begins from the moment you create an account and make your first grammar check.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Grammar checking: Your input text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to perform grammar analysis. We do not store your input text or the grammar correction results.
- Analytics: We log anonymized request metadata (country, status, timestamp) to monitor service health and usage patterns.
- Feedback & contact: We use your submitted feedback and contact messages to improve the service.
- Newsletter: If you subscribe, we use your email to send you updates about GrammarMama. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Account history: If you have a registered account, we store your grammar check history — including submitted texts, identified mistakes, and vocabulary patterns — to personalise your experience and track your progress over time.
Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — anonymous grammar checking and analytics, where processing is necessary to provide and improve the service and does not override your rights.
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — storing your account data (mistakes, vocabulary patterns, progress) and processing payments via Paddle, where processing is necessary to deliver the subscription service you signed up for.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — newsletter subscriptions. You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
To exercise your rights under GDPR — including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data — contact us at support@grammarmama.com. We will respond within 30 days.
4. Data Storage and Retention
For anonymous users, input text and grammar correction results are not stored — they are processed in real time and discarded. Feedback, contact messages, and newsletter subscriptions are stored in our database until you request deletion or unsubscribe.
For registered accounts, grammar check history (submitted texts, identified mistakes, vocabulary patterns) is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account data at any time by contacting us at support@grammarmama.com.
5. Third-Party Services
We use Anthropic's Claude API to process grammar checks. Your input text is sent to Anthropic for this purpose and is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting and database services.
Paid subscriptions are processed by Paddle (paddle.com), our authorised reseller and merchant of record. Paddle collects and processes your payment information (card details, billing address) directly and in accordance with their Privacy Policy. We do not store your payment card details.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@grammarmama.com.
8. International Transfers
Your data may be processed in the United States (AWS servers). By using our service, you consent to this transfer.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
